Amy Todd and Danny Burns represented a Portsmouth Football Club Team in London last weekend. Amy was part of the two lady team which lifted the national title winning all their matches. Danny Burns played really well in his first real competitive season to finish 4th in the boys individual event. Their combined results with the other team members gave Portsmouth Football Club a magnificent 4th place overall. Well done to the team!!!! |

National Cadet League
The team of Vincent Cheung, Sam Larder, Jonny McMullan and Leo Long managed to avoid relegation from Division 1 at the Waterside club. Now they can play the rest of the season in the highest division locally which will prove a good test for this young team.
Without Jonny McMullan through injury the team was ably supported by Leo Long who weny unbeaten this Sunday. Hopefully with Jonny back fit for the 2nd half the team can make a go for the title. |

ETTA Ranking List
The latest ETTA National Ranking List sees several of our young players achieve very high positions. Both Lois Peake and Letitia McMullan reach the Top 5 Cadets in the country with Lois leading the charge at No 3 and Letitia just below at No 5. Lois has already achived International honours at the recent 6 Nations in Dusseldorf.
In the Boys List Vincent Cheung starts the year at No 40 whilst Jonny McMullan races to the No 8 spot. These two will undoubtedly be seeking to rise even higher on the list this season. |

National Under 11-14 Championships

|
Again the intrepid trio of Vincent Cheung, Letitia McMuillan and Jon McMullan made the long trip to Doncaster. Vincent faced tough opposition in his U11 group and finished a creditable 3rd place in his group. Jonny lost out in his difficult U12 group but finished runner-up in his U11 group. He then convincingly won his 1st round match and then narrowly lost to the No3 seed in the last 16 - great play for a 9 year old!!!!
Letitia made short work of her U14 group, first and 2nd round opponents to face the No2 seed who beat Tish in a straight sets battle. The U13 event saw Tish progress easily to the semi-final only to lose England no1 Cadet Tin Tin Ho who proved too strong for Letitia on the day. |

The following day the trio were joined by club mate Vincent Cheung to represent the Southern Region who came in 6th place after many hard fought inter region squad matches. |

Generation
2 is proud to announce the employment of Heather Knight as our
new ETTA Coaching & Support Officer. This role is for 2 years
and sees Heather coach in local affiliated schools in the Gosport
and Fareham area in order to create quality school club links.
This will give more young people the opportunity to play Table
Tennis and then develop greater skills at Generation 2. Another
major aspect to the role is the development of an even higher
quality coaching system at the club. Generation has a good reputation
for coaching the sport and we seek to become an even better coaching
club.

This is a great honour for Letitia who takes part in the Under

Change
at the top
Generation
2 TTC have a new Chairman. Charlie Childs who has been Chairman
for many years has made way for a younger man - Tim Manhire, to
take over this very important role at the club. Tim brings a wealth
of knowledge of running successful clubs and a great deal of business
knowlege. Tim's arrival further increases the significant volunteer
workforce at the club in what is a time of great change. We wish
him well in his new role.

It
is with great sadness that I report the passing away of Geofff
Coppock. Geoff was an integral part of the clubs 30 year association
with the AJK table Tennis club in Vannes, Fareham's twin town
in France.
He
will be sadly missed by all who knew him and especially by the
many members of Generation 2 TTC who shared some great twinning
experiences. Geoff will be cremated at Portchester Crematorium
at 10am on Friday 21st August 2009. |

Youth Games Generation
2 again provided a team of players for these games which this
year were focussed at players who have only played for a short
while and not played in a regular competition. So
we sent Will Jayne, Matthew Kildea and Jack Warwick to do battle
in their first real competition. An excellent performance from
the trio saw them all progress from the group stages with Will
and Jack as winners and Matthew as runner - up. Matthew then lost
in the quarter final and Will losing out in the semi final. Jack
then fought his way to the final only to lose at the final hurdle.
For all three it was a good days performance to build on.
